Funny Distillery is Taiwan’s first urban craft distillery, located in Shulin District, New Taipei City—
just a 7-minute walk from the nearest train station. Its design reflects the modern values of
sustainability and community integration found in leading urban distilleries worldwide.
The distillery is equipped with a hammer mill, a 1.3kL mash/lauter tun, four 2.6kL fermenters, and
a 1.3kL modified Lomond-style still. Its malt whisky is made using both imported malt and local
Taiwanese barley. The fermentation process uniquely retains grain (ferment with lees), yielding a
rich and oily new-make spirit with strong cereal, grain aroma.
Beyond malt, the distillery explores a wide range of local Taiwanese raw materials—including maize,
rice, oat, molasses, and sugarcane juice—to produce both whisky and rum.
